Himachal CM calls on Union Health Minister seeking funds for 3 medical colleges
Himachal Pradesh- To seek the Centre's support to strengthen the health services of Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu called on Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda.
Recently, a meeting was held where Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sunder Singh Thakur, Principal Secretary Finance Devesh Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty and Private Secretary to the Union Health Minister Ashutosh Garg were present.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister demanded funds from the Union Minister to complete the remaining infrastructure and services of Nahan, Chamba and Hamirpur Medical Colleges. With this, he also emphasised the need for state-of-the-art medical technology in hospitals across Himachal Pradesh. Though this will reduce the need for residents to seek advanced medical care outside the state, report TOI.
Apart from this, the CM also mentioned the medical education of Himachal Pradesh and said that the quality of medical education being provided to the students is not adequate. Meanwhile, he also urged for help to the nursing students of the state in getting placements abroad.
While appealing, he highlighted the commitment of the State Government to enhance the health sector through better infrastructure and services.
Further, Mr Sukhu also requested the Union Minister Mr Nadda for additional financial assistance for the Bulk Drug Park, as it plays a vital role in the economic development of the State and has the potential to generate employment opportunities locally. The Bulk Drug Park is proposed to be constructed on 570 hectares of land at an estimated cost of Rs 1,923 crore.
However, considering all the requests of the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, the Union Minister assured all possible assistance from the Centre.
