Himachal: Senior doctor succumbs to COVID-19
Shimla: In an unfortunate incident, a doctor attached to Ner Chowk Medical College in Mandi succumbed to COVID-19 at a private hospital in Chandigarh on Sunday.
The deceased doctor has been identified as Dr Pradeep Bansal, who served as the head of community medicine at Ner Chowk Medical College. The doctor was tested COVID positive about 10 to 12 days back. He was taken to three different facilities but eventually died due to COVID at Chandigarh.
As per a recent media account, the deceased had a travel history to Patiala, where he went to pay a visit to his relatives on the account of the demise of one of his relatives. After returning, he was tested COVID positive. He was staying under home quarantine initially.
However, when he suffered health complications, he was admitted to Ner Chowk Hospital. While under treatment, his health condition started declining and he had to be transferred to Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla.
Despite the effort, no improvement was recorded in his condition, hence the doctors suggested taking him to a private hospital in Chandigarh. After battling against COVID, he finally passed away in the facility on 20th September 2020.
