Kashmir based doctor bags RCPsych's Trainee Innovator Award
Srinagar: Kashmir-based Dr Shah Tarfarosh has recently been awarded the RCPsych South Eastern Award for the year 2022 by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Dr Shah Tarfarosh has been honored with the Trainee Innovator award for the Year 2022.
Doctor Shah is an Oxford University postgraduate currently working as the Specialist Registrar at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust in England with a record of a glorious career.
The RCPsych South Eastern declared the results on Thursday and tweeted, "The winner of Trainee Innovator of the Year 2022 is Dr. ShahTarfarosh– a Specialist Registrar at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust at Oxford Health NHS, a wonderful achievement."
Dr. Shah Tarfarosh was nominated for the "Trainee Innovator of the Year 2022" award along with two other nominees comprising Dr. Alexander Patrick and Dr. Emma New. Pertinently, the Royal College of Psychiatry had also nominated Dr. Shah Tarfarosh for four other awards including "Trainee peer of the year" and "Higher trainee of the year" besides being selected as Finalist for three awards.
Last year, Dr. Shah Tarfarosh had developed impressive quality improvement projects, including animations showing real-life experiences of children and families using services for neurodevelopmental conditions. In October 2021, Dr. Shah was interviewed by the BBC for his work on the Autism and ADHD animation project.
Dr. Shah pursued his MRCPsych course from the Royal College of Psychiatrists, London and he completed Oxford Postgraduate Psychiatry Course in 2018. He is a PGC CREL Clinical Research, Education & Leadership from the University of Cambridge. He started his career as a rotational clinical fellow at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, UK.
While expressing his gratitude towards the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Dr. Shah Tarfarosh wrote on twitter, "I am honored & humbled to win the 'Innovator of the year 2022 award', besides being nominated for 4 awards & selected as Finalist for 3 awards. Royal College of Psychiatrists is the biggest and one of the most prestigious foundations of mental health Doctors in the world. This category of Trainee Innovator is open to nominations for any psychiatric trainee or foundation doctor who has contributed innovatively in addition to their usual clinical role. The contribution may be at the local, regional or national level. This award is only open to individuals. Nominees should be residents in the UK and living or working in the South Eastern Division.
