After months of wait, Jharkhand allots 230 FMG internship seats across 9 medical colleges

Ranchi: After waiting for a long time, Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) in Jharkhand will finally receive internship allotments, with the Jharkhand State Medical Council recently releasing 230 internship seats across nine medical colleges and hospitals in the state.
The move will bring relief to hundreds of graduates who had been waiting for months to begin their compulsory rotatory medical internship (CRMI).
According to the list released by the Jharkhand State Medical Council (JSMC), 230 internship seats have been allotted for FMGs across nine medical colleges and hospitals in the state.
MTMC, Jamshedpur has been allotted the highest number of internship seats (61), followed by MGM Medical College, Jamshedpur (58) and SNMC, Dhanbad (54). RIMS, Ranchi has been allotted 14 seats, while Sadar Hospital, Ranchi (Non-Teaching) has received 11 seats. MM College, Palamu; PJM College, Dumka; Laxmi Chandravansi Medical College, Palamu; and SBMC, Hazaribagh have each been allotted eight internship seats.
The council has clarified that once seats are allotted on the basis of the merit list, candidates will not be allowed to request a change of their allotted college.
Announcing the development, the All India Medical Students' Association (AIMSA) Jharkhand said the internship allotment was achieved after months of continuous representations, meetings and follow-ups by the association and FMGs across the state.
Describing it as "a victory of unity, voice and determination," the association said the collective efforts of the FMG community had finally yielded results.
AIMSA Jharkhand thanked FMGs who remained united during the campaign and acknowledged the efforts of its state team. It also expressed gratitude to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren for his support and timely intervention, describing the internship allotment as not just an allotment but "a new beginning" for FMGs in the state.
Speaking to Medical Dialogues, Dr Keshav Priyanshu, National Joint Secretary, AIMSA, said, "This achievement belongs to every FMG who remained united, patient, and determined throughout this journey. We sincerely thank the Jharkhand State Medical Council for addressing the issue and facilitating the internship allotment process. We also express our gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren Ji and all concerned authorities whose support and intervention helped move the process forward."
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the medicos had raised concerns over the delay in opening the Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI) registration portal for internship applications and informed the council about the prolonged delay for students who cleared the FMGE in December 2025.
