Jharkhand man duped of Rs 18.25 lakh in MBBS admission fraud

Lucknow: In a recent case of medical admission fraud, a man from Daltonganj allegedly lost Rs 18.25 lakh to an individual who had promised to secure him admission to an MBBS course.
The man lodged a complaint at the Vibhutikhand police station.
The accused created a fake website under the name of a consultancy and lured victims with the promise of admission.
According to the AmarUjala media news report, the complainant came across a consultancy website on the internet that advertised admissions for MBBS. After viewing the website, he contacted the consultancy using the number provided on it.
While contacting the consultancy, he spoke to Sharma, who assured him that he would secure admission for his daughter. During this process, the accused, Sharma, asked him to deposit a total of Rs 18.25 lakh into various accounts in the name of the Hindu Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS).
However, a few days passed, yet the admission did not take place. Subsequently, the complainant immediately approached the police, who promptly initiated an investigation and discovered that he had been defrauded.
During the investigation, the accused's office in Gomti Nagar was found closed.
Meanwhile, on the orders of ADCP Crime Kiran Yadav, Vibhutikhand police has registered a report. Inspector Upendra Singh said that the matter is currently being investigated.
Cases have previously been registered against the accused at the cyber police station as well. The police are examining bank accounts and call details.
