2 MBBS students killed in bike-truck collision

Shivamogga: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of two third-year medical students from Shivamogga Institute of Medical Sciences after their bike collided with a mini milk truck near Circuit House on Bengaluru-Honnavara Road in Shivamogga.
According to the police, the students were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident, and as a result, they died on the spot due to severe injuries sustained in the impact.
The deceased have been identified as 21-year-old, a native of Katpadi in Udupi district, and 21-year-old medico from Nyamathi in Davanagere district.

As per The Hindu media report, the accident occurred around 5 am on Wednesday when the students went to a petrol station near the APMC yard. On their way back to the hostel, their bike crashed into the mini-truck, which was turning towards Kuvempu Road from B.H. Road. Both students died instantly, while the truck driver suffered minor injuries.
Shivamogga Traffic (West) Police later reached the spot and shifted the bodies to McGann Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
Medical Dialogues recently reported that a paediatrician posted at Chengalpattu Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) lost his life, while 17 others, including another doctor, sustained serious injuries after a government-run bus lost control and rammed into another bus as well as the two doctors who were walking near the road.
The two doctors were walking towards Chengalpattu GMCH for their duties when the bus hit them and then crashed into a private bus in front. While bystanders and passengers were also injured, one of the doctors succumbed to the accident due to the severe impact. The deceased was identified as Dr. S. Manikumar, a paediatrician at Chengalpattu GMCH. The injured doctor is Dr. Praveen Kumar, from the same hospital.
