Father Muller Medical College receives Grade A Accreditation from NAAC
Mangalore: The Father Muller Medical College has recently been bestowed with a Grade A accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The NAAC is the highest body in India established by the University Grants Commission to assess and accredit institutions in higher education in the country, based on a number of different quality assessment criteria.
A team from NAAC had visited the Father Muller Medical College, which is a constituent college of the Father Muller Charitable Institutions, during August this same year, for the audit and to assess the campus and quality of education. The entire process was flawlessly performed under the capable supervision of Fr Ajith B Menezes, Administrator FMMC, who has given due credit to Dr Jaya Prakash Alva, Dean FMMC, for the college score.
It is noteworthy that FMMC is the first medical college under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, to receive a Grade A accreditation by the NAAC. In addition to this, the hospital is the only medical institution in the city that has all three laboratories accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories, guaranteeing the quality of service.
The hospital as a whole is undergoing the process of accreditation and the pre-assessment by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) is over. Dr. Alva informed TOI that a team from NABH was in the hospital and the final results will be known shortly. "We will need to make a few changes based on their suggestions," he said, adding it will enable the hospital to enhance standards and provide better infrastructure.
