Kasturba medical college student allegedly commits suicide

Karnataka: In a tragic incident, a medical student allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the 12th floor of an apartment building.
The incident was reported on Friday in Attavar, Karnataka.
The deceased has been identified as a student at Kasturba Medical College (KMC).
According to the News Karnataka report, this incident occurred at an apartment complex located in Attavar. It is reported that the medico had gone there to meet a friend. After signing the visitor register at the security desk, he directly proceeded to the 12th floor of the building. Before jumping, he placed his mobile phone on the ground.
Following this incident, the police were immediately informed of the matter. Personnel from the Pandaveswar Police Station arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. As part of the investigation, officials are expected to record statements and examine available evidence, including CCTV footage.
However, the exact cause behind this incident has not yet been determined.
Medical Dialogues had recently reported a first-year postgraduate medical student from the paediatrics department of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, allegedly attempted suicide by consuming around 30 phenobarbitone tablets.
The medico was rescued in time and is currently in stable condition. She is undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and her condition is said to be improving.
While the exact reason behind the extreme step is yet to be officially confirmed, reports suggest that she was under significant work pressure and mental distress. Police reportedly recovered a suicide note in which the student accused a senior paediatrician of prolonged mental harassment. She was posted under his unit and had allegedly been facing sustained pressure for over a month
