Alappuzha medical college final year MBBS student found dead inside car, police suspect suicide

Thiruvananthapuram: In an unfortunate incident, a 23 year old final year MBBS student at Alappuzha Government Medical College was found dead inside a car parked by the roadside at Kallambalam.
As per PTI report, the student was missing from home for the past two days and he was found dead inside the car parked along a stretch of road where National Highway construction work is underway at Kallambalam.
While the exact reason behind his dead is uncertain, the police suspect that he may have died by suicide after inhaling carbon monoxide generated by burning charcoal-like material inside the vehicle.

The incident took place after he left his home in his car around 4 pm on Tuesday. When he did not return by night, his family members became concerned and approached the police.
Subsequently, a search operation was launched by the police along with his relatives. Based on his mobile phone location, the police traced the car to a service road along National Highway 66, where construction work is currently underway.
There, the police found him inside the vehicle and took him to the Government Medical College Hospital at Parippally. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
As per latest TOI report, police said materials resembling charcoal were found burnt inside the car. Based on the preliminary circumstances, investigators suspect that the material generated carbon monoxide inside the closed vehicle and that he may have inhaled the poisonous gas.
The police said a preliminary examination suggested suicide, but the exact cause of death could be ascertained only after a post-mortem examination. The body was shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Parippally, for post-mortem examination following preliminary procedures.
A case of unnatural death has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
