Waiting for 2 months to get posted, medical professors irked on delay of transfer list
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The doctors in the state are expressing concern over the delay in publishing the transfer list of doctors under the Directorate of Medical Education and Directorate of Health Services through the draft that has been prepared for two months. The list is supposed to be based on merit but doctors suspect that the section of influential doctors is trying to manipulate the list in their favor.
The transfer list is supposed to be prepared for Professors, associate professors, and assistant professors under DME, as well as consultants, junior consultants, and senior consultants under DHS, to move them in May. However, the transfer procedure was interrupted due to the pandemic and the notice was only issued in October. Despite the state government's withdrawal of all COVID procedures, a group of doctors claimed that the health sector has yet to resume regular operations.
The doctors claimed that they sought promotion which is essential for their career but it has been denied by the authorities for a long. A senior doctor told The New Indian Express on condition of anonymity, " Natural justice is being denied to doctors after we had put in yeoman service during the last two years of the pandemic. We strongly suspect that the health authorities are keen to club the doctors' transfer along with the general transfer".
The appeal committee is usually established within two weeks of the draft list being released. However, it has been about two months since the draft list was made public online. Dr. Ramla Beevi, DME, told TNIE that the final transfer list is most likely to be released by next week. "There were corrections to be made in the draft list. Hence there was a delay in the announcement of the doctors' transfer orders. We will be completing the process by next week," added Dr. Ramla.
