MY Hospital Seeks New Diagnostic Partner After KRSNA Removal Over Irregularities
Indore: Maharaja Yeshwantrao (MY) Hospital has invited proposals from five private diagnostic centres to ensure the continuation of CT scan and MRI services. This move comes following the termination of its long-standing partnership with KRSNA Diagnostic due to recurring complaints regarding the quality of its tests.
To address the gap in diagnostic services, a committee has been formed to review the proposals and select the most suitable provider. The chosen centre will manage diagnostic tests until the hospital procures and installs its own CT scan and MRI machines.
However, according to Dr. Ashok Yadav, Superintendent of MY Hospital, the installation process is expected to take six months. “In the meantime, we are working to ensure that patients can still undergo necessary tests at private centres. The proposals from five diagnostic centres are under review, with a focus on finding the most cost-effective and efficient option for patients,” Dr Yadav said.
Since December 31, when KRSNA Diagnostic was removed, the hospital's machines have been out of service. Patients requiring CT scans have been redirected to the Super-Specialty Hospital, while MRI services remain unavailable, Free Press Journal reports.
The committee’s decision-making process has been affected by internal disagreements, particularly over pricing. Members raised objections to the high rates quoted by some private centres, notably for contrast injections used in MRI tests. One centre proposed a rate of ₹2,500 for the injection, significantly higher than the ₹600 price available in bulk. These discrepancies have fuelled debate and delayed finalizing an agreement.
“The committee members have also recommended including multiple diagnostic centres in the plan, arguing that spreading the patient load across two or three centres would reduce overcrowding and minimise patient inconvenience,” the sources said. The impasse has left patients struggling to access affordable diagnostic services. Hospital authorities are under pressure to resolve the issue promptly, ensuring continuity of care while addressing concerns over quality and cost-effectiveness.
