Another NEET 2026 candidate from Maharashtra allegedly commits suicide over low score
Mumbai: In a tragic incident, an 18-year-old candidate from Maharashtra allegedly committed suicide by consuming rodent-killing tablets after being distressed over her NEET 2026 re-examination score.
The candidate was reportedly under severe stress after failing to secure the marks needed to qualify. As per reports, she had appeared for the NEET examination last year but could not clear it. After receiving a low score in the NEET re-exam, she was reportedly depressed.
TNIE reported that she allegedly consumed poisonous rat-killing tablets at her home without informing her family on July 23, 2026. The effects of the poison appeared two days later, when she began vomiting and complained of severe abdominal pain. She then informed her family about consuming the poison. Her family rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed.
The police have registered a case in this regard, and an investigation is underway.
Medical Dialogues had reported a few days back that a 19-year-old NEET candidate committed suicide in Maharashtra's Ahilyanagar district after receiving lower-than-expected marks in the medical entrance examination.
Her family said she scored 166 marks in NEET but was reportedly under stress as she had expected a higher score. In a note recovered after her death, the student expressed regret over not being able to fulfil her family’s expectations after preparing for NEET.
“You gave me so much love, but I couldn't fulfil even one of your wishes. Mom, you supported me like a friend in every difficulty. Dada (brother), you also supported me a lot. You loved me even more than Mom and Dad. You are not responsible for my suicide,” she wrote
