Dr Gaurav Vedprakash Mishra appointed as youngest Pro Vice-Chancellor of Datta Meghe Medical Science University
Wardha: Dr. Gaurav Mishra has been appointed as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor of Datta Meghe Medical Science University (Deemed University). The 33-year-old has become the youngest Pro Vice-Chancellor of Medical University in India.
Dr. Mishra completed his MBBS in 2012 and pursued his MD in Radiodiagnosis at Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences in 2015. He has four fellowships to his credit, including fellowships in Bioethics, Curriculum Design, Vascular and Interventional Radiology, and Programme Evaluation. He joined DMIMS as an assistant professor in 2015 and became a professor this year.
Dr. Gaurav Mishra has double doctorate (Ph.D.) degrees. He completed his first Ph.D. in Radiodiagnosis in 2018 after which he also secured a Ph.D. in Health Profession (HP) Education. He completed his second Ph.D. this year. He also served as the Dean of the Radiology faculty. He presented more than 150 research papers on a National and International level. ICMR, a nodal agency of the Government of India under the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), has also lauded the doctor for his contribution and dedicated service during the COVID pandemic.
Talking to Medical Dialogues, the doctor stated, " I know I am holding a position graced by the presence of academic stalwarts and medical experts, and I don't find myself anywhere near them, but since God has given me this opportunity, I will try to make the best out of it.
" I would like to thank my parents, Dr. Vedprakash Mishra and Dr. Neelam Dixit, who has been my inspiration in pursuing the medical field. Like, many other children, my father was a role model to me. I used to see how my father worked a day in and day out, and I was always prepared to dedicate myself to my work. My father was an unwavering inspiration to me. My parents were great support for me", he added.
