Dr Raju Varyani takes over as new IMA Pune President
Pune: Dr Raju Varyani has been appointed as President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Pune branch. Dr Varyani stated that IMA will take the initiative to organize CPR training sessions for non-medical people from now on.
He has also encouraged more public participation in healthcare initiatives. He succeeded Dr Meenakshi Deshpande as the President during a ceremony held at Dr Nitu Mandke IMA House.
Talking to Medical Dialogues, Dr Varyani stated, "IMA Pune has a rich legacy of 95 years. Whatever the organization today is the result of dedication and hard work done by our seniors throughout these years. I feel very proud to be the President of such a great Organization. In shouldering the responsibility as a President of IMA Pune, I will put all my efforts into the service of this association."

"The Theme for the year 2023-24 is Unite to Rejuvenate Healthcare. In these days, when IMA is facing challenging situations, only our unity will become our strength and remain our strength," he added.
He emphasized how important it was for IMA members to use social media more frequently and cautiously. He said that social media presence can be important to make the general public aware of lifestyle modification updates on current medical issues. Dr Varyani has 25 years of experience in the medical field and he has been an active member of IMA for a long time.
IMA national president Dr Sharad Kumar Agarwal was the chief guest of the event. The new team of office bearers for 2023-24 includes President-elect – Dr Rajan Sancheti, Vice President – Dr Sunil Ingale, Treasurer – Dr Alka Kshirsagar, Secretary – Dr Geetanjali Sharma, Secretary – Dr Kedar Patil, Joint Secretary – Dr Virendra Ostwal, Assistant Secretary and Joint Treasurer – Dr Sachin Lakade, IPP president – Dr Meenakshi Deshpande.
