The name of the other aspirants included Dr. Mohan Joshi, dean, LTM College (Sion Hospital), Dr. Ramesh Bharmal, Dean, Topiwala National Medical College (Nair), Dr. Ajay Chandanwale, Joint Director, DMER, Dr. Harish Pathak from KEM, and the pro-vice-chancellor of MUHS, Dr. Mohan Khamgaonkar and the registrar, Kalidas Chavan and so on.
MUHS posted an advertisement on 24th February inviting applications for the post of VC. MUHS in a recent notification stated, " The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Act, 1998 provides for a transparent and an objective process for selection of the Vice-Chancellor, designed to select a scholar of eminence with leadership and administrative abilities, who would be able to transform the University into a Centre for Academic & Professional Excellence."
It further added, "The Chancellor and Hon'ble Governor of Maharashtra has formed a three-member Search Committee for recommending suitable names for the post of Vice-Chancellor. The Search Committee now invites nominations/applications from eminent academicians who fulfil the qualification and experience prescribed for the post of Vice-Chancellor.
