"The Medical Skill Hunar Hub will have space for 2500 students with hostel facilities, Pharmaceutical College, Paramedical College & Skill Development Centre," the Chief Minister told reporters after the cabinet.
Sangma said the state government had initiated the project in 2020 at an estimated cost of Rs. 282 crores but after certain adjustments and certain changes that were made in the proposal, the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs has sanctioned Rs 151.95 crore for the project.
Out of the Rs 151.95 crore, the Chief Minister said 10 percent will be borne by the state government and the rest 135 crores will be given by the centre.
Sangma said the initial installment for the project has been released and the work for the construction of the Hunar Hub will be executed through a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), which is Engineering Project India Limited (EPI).
"This PSU was selected after a bidding process and other PSUs had also submitted their bids, and out of the three L1, EPI was chosen," he informed.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma had said the government is investing close to Rs. 350 crores to create better health care infrastructure in the State.
"The government is making a concerted effort to bring change in the overall health scenario of the State," Sangma said after laying the foundation stone for the up-gradation of Tikrikilla Public Health Centre (PHC) to a Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kentapara under Dadenggre Block, West Garo Hills district.
