Demanding medical college hospital, Activists stage demonstration before DC office in Kendrapara
Kendrapara: Social activists and leaders of various political parties recently held a protest demonstration in front of the district collector office, seeking setting up of a medical college and hospital in Kendrapara.
In a memorandum submitted through ADM Kendrapara, the agitators urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to initiate steps to set up the medical college in Kendrapara at the earliest.
They threatened to continue their agitation till their demand was fulfilled.
The agitators under the banner of Kendrapara Zilla Medical college and hospital Pratistha Milita Karjyanusthan Committee alleged that the government has been showing an indifferent attitude to the district even though all the five MLAs and the MP of the district are from the ruling BJD.
They said the Naveen Pattanaik government increased the number of medical colleges in the state from 3 to 10 but it ignored Kendrapara district.
Mr Patnaik had assured during the last election that he would personally oversee the development of the district but took no steps for the development of the district, they alleged.
The agitators said the MLAs and MPs of the district were strangely silent over the demand for the setting up of a medical college in the district.
