Odisha Health Department investigates Quack practising for 15 Years

Balasore: A shocking incident unfolded in the Soro area of Balasore when a quack, who had been providing medical services to the local community for 15 years was exposed as a fraud, as his registration number was found to be forged.
A police complaint has been lodged against him. According to reports, the accused has been identified as a resident of Basudevpur in Bhadrak and he had been treating patients for years by claiming to be a specialist doctor and nephrologist.
Recently, Sanjay Patra, a resident of Mobarakpur, discovered the lack of medical credentials after verifying the accused's registration number. He asked the doctor for his registration number and later, while confirming his registration number, found that his registration number was fake. Subsequently, he filed a complaint against him at the Soro Police Station. The accused has been treating patients at various medical stores in the Soro area for the past 15 years. The registration number on his prescription was incorrect, which the accused dismissed as a printing error, reports Odisha TV.
According to the Daily, one of his friends informed him that the accused is a quack and not an MBBS. The complainant stated, "I investigated on my own and the registration number mentioned on his prescription was wrong. He cited it as a printing mistake." Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Dulalshen Jagdev said, "There is no such medicine specialist as B****** in Soro. We came to know of the issue and we have ordered an investigation. After the probe, we will inform the police. The CDMO cannot take action against him.”
Last year also a similar incident of quackery took place in the state in which an inspection conducted by the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), a quack was caught red-handed roaming in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology department at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Odisha’s Bhadrak. The quack approached the security guard of the O&G department and identified himself as a newly appointed doctor. He was spotted with a stethoscope around his neck.
