Odisha Labourer's son cracks NEET, secures MBBS seat at MKCG Medical College

Odisha- From working as a daily wage labourer at a construction site in Bengaluru to securing an MBBS seat, the journey of 19-year-old Subham Sabar from Khurda district, Odisha, is nothing short of extraordinary.
Despite financial hardships, Subham cracked the NEET-UG exam and has now secured admission at MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
Belonging to a poor family from Mudulidhia village, Shubham ranked 18,212 in the Scheduled Tribe category. Once aspiring to become a police officer, he set his sights on medicine during his higher studies, determined to serve the people of Odisha as a doctor.
According to PTI report, Subham Sabar, a 19-year-old student from Odisha, who worked as a labourer in Bengaluru, has cleared the National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG) exam and secured admission to the MBBS course at MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
Sabar told PTI, “Recently, while working at the construction site in Bengaluru, I got a call from my teacher who asked me to distribute sweets. I was surprised and asked him about the reason. He smiled and informed me that I had cracked the NEET exams. It was like a dream come true. I could not hold my tears and returned home the next day with due permission of the contractor who engaged me in the work”.
He further said, “I hail from a very poor family of five. As the NEET exam was over, I decided to earn some money to support my family. I contacted a local contractor who sent me to Bengaluru. The savings I made helped me get admission to the medical college”. During his three months of work, the student earned Rs 45,000, saving Rs 25,000 to support his family.
Meanwhile, his parents, Sahadev and Rangi, are hoping that the government will provide financial aid for his five-year MBBS course. "Since childhood, he has been very hardworking and brilliant. He wanted to become a doctor. His hard work brought him success," said his mother, Rangi.
