No negotiation of 50 percent Govt quota MBBS seats in private medical colleges: Pondy LG
Pondy LG Kiran Bedi said when the 'essentiality certificate' was issued by the government of Puducherry to the private unaided medical colleges, it was stipulated that 50 per cent of seats would be filled by the government in these colleges.
Puducherry: Categorically stating that there will be no negotiation in the 50 per cent seats in private medical college as government quota, the Union Territory Lt Governor Kiran Bedi on Monday said that she had written a letter to the Union Home Secretary to expedite approval for the same.
In a letter to the Chief Secretary on Monday night, the LG requested him to pursue the matter and added that it was unfortunate that the draft bill sent to the government of India has not been followed by the administrative department.

She said when the 'essentiality certificate' was issued by the government of Puducherry to the private unaided medical colleges, it was stipulated that 50 per cent of seats would be filled by the government in these colleges.
This condition shall be enforced by the health department and Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC) of the government for admission without deviation, pending passing of a law by the legislative assembly.
Copy of the letter was also sent to the Chief Minister and Health Secretary.
