Construction work for 5 upcoming medical colleges in full swing: Punjab CM
Chandigarh: Work for constructing the upcoming medical colleges at SAS Nagar (Mohali), Kapurthala, Sangrur, Hoshiarpur and Malerkotla, is in full swing, this was recently stated by the Punjab Chief Minister.
According to a recent report by UNI, chairing a meeting to review the work on the ongoing medical colleges in the state, he asked the officers to ensure their completion in a time-bound manner. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday further iterated that his government was committed to making the state a medical education hub.
The Chief Minister said the medical colleges and hospitals would make the state a hub of medical education in the country, thereby immensely benefitting the people of Punjab.

Mann said the state has a glorious legacy of producing world-class doctors across the globe. Even today, many students pursue medical education to become qualified doctors. He envisioned that the students aspiring to pursue medical education will be provided quality medical education in these medical colleges.
He also asked the officers to prepare an elaborate plan for the facelift of medical colleges in Amritsar, Faridkot and Patiala. He said the sole aim is to ensure people get quality health services in these colleges and hospitals, reports UNI.
Medicall Dialogues earlier reported that a private institution in Fatehgarh Sahib, RIMT Medical College and Hospital, received approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC) to commence its MBBS program from the current academic session with 50 seats.
With this latest approval, private medical colleges now offer 850 out of the total 1,550 MBBS seats available in the state. RIMT Medical College, which was initially denied permission in the NMC’s first list this year, successfully appealed and secured the 50 seats.
