No bail for doctors accused of making fake COVID positive reports
Amritsar: The bail application of the three accused doctors allegedly involved in making fake COVID positive reports has been rejected by the additional session court judge, Sarbjeet Singh Dhaliwal.
The three of the accused doctors include the owner and doctors of Tuli Diagnostic Centre where they allegedly made false reports of patients stating that they are COVID positive to fleece them. The 6 other people connected with the fraud are still missing while the other three have already withdrawn their bail plea.

Earlier, on June 23rd, the Punjab vigilance bureau after investigating the matter registered a case against the owner of the laboratory, his wife, a pathologist, and another doctor associated with preparing the false Lab reports.
Police have registered a case against them under the charges of attempted murder, fraud, criminal conspiracy, and corruption. Moreover, the owners of EMC Super Speciality Hospital are also reportedly booked for their alleged association and collaboration with the laboratory.
According to a recent HT report, the doctors were involved in a racket, and from June they became actively engaged in fabricating false COVID positive reports of patients. The matter came to light after at least three of the patient tested to be COVID positive according to their lab's reports, actually turned out to be COVID negative after going through a test at Government Medical College Amritsar.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau conducted a further investigation exposing that some of the COVID-19 patients who were COVID negative, in reality, took admission in the isolation ward of the EMC Hospital. They received treatment there while staying with genuine COVID positive patients. The report of the investigation further claimed that while being admitted there, at least three of the patients got infected during their stay in the isolation ward.
Ensuring that strict action will be taken against the accused who are absconding, Amritsar police commissioner Sukhchain Singh told the daily that "We are conducting raids to nab the absconding accused".
