5 MBBS students assault, Loot Milk Van Owner in Jodhpur, 3 arrested, 2 absconding
Jodhpur: Among 5 final-year MBBS students, four from SN Medical College, Jodhpur and one from AIIMS Jodhpur have been accused of allegedly looting a milk van, threatening and manhandling the driver in front of Mathuradas Mathur Hospital on Sunday morning. A video of the incident from a CCTV camera went viral on social media.
Following the accusation, the police have arrested three students while two others are absconding, as per PTI report. The two who managed to escape are students at SN Medical College and AIIMS Jodhpur, police said.
The arrest was made after the milk van driver filed a complaint against the five medical students accusing them of looting his van, some crates of milk and cash. He also alleged in his complaint that the students threatened, manhandled him and fled with his van.

The incident took place on Sunday at around 4 am when the milk van went to gate number 1 of Mathuradas Mathur Hospital to supply milk to Saras Dairy and the medical students stopped him. According to police, the students intercepted the milk van at the gates of the MDM Hospital and asked the driver to come out.
"When the driver came out of the vehicle, the accused began to misbehave and manhandle him. Three of the accused pushed him to the back of the van while two others entered the cabin and drove away with the vehicle," said the police.
SHO Devendra Singh said prima facie, these students attempted the crime as an adventure. They came to the gate of the hospital from their hostel during rain with a plan to intercept some vehicle and the oncoming milk van driver fell victim to this misadventure, he said.
Following the incident, the driver approached the police and filed a complaint. In his complaint, the driver stated that the accused students snatched Rs 4,600 cash from him and fled away with two crates of 24 litres of milk along with his vehicle, Free Press Journal reports.
Upon receiving the complaint, police began searching for the looted van and found it abandoned around 5 km away with two crates of milk missing. While checking the CCTV camera installed at the entrance of the hospital gate, the police identified the students. Based on the footage, the police arrested the accused students.
"We rushed to the spot and confirmed the incident through the CCTV cameras installed around and identified the accused as medical students. We have arrested the three students for disturbing peace for now. They will be produced in court and then booked under the charge of loot," said a police officer.
