Rajasthan Hospital gets Essentiality Certificate to set up Medical College with 50 MBBS seats in Gujarat
Rajasthan- Rajasthan Hospital has recently received the Essentiality Certificate (EC) from the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of Gujarat to establish a medical college.
Rajasthan Hospital is managed by an Ahmedabad-based charitable trust.
The trust has also started the process of establishing Gujarat Medical College and Research Center in Ahmedabad. In addition, the trust is also preparing a new hospital complex at a cost of about Rs 100 crore.
Recently, a wide-ranging discussion and deliberation was held in which the trust members decided to set up a medical college to improve medical services and education in Gujarat. The proposed medical college has been named 'Gujarat Medical College and Research Centre'. Meanwhile, the college will have 50 MBBS seats, which will be increased to 100 seats later. Apart from this, postgraduate courses like MD and MS will also be introduced in the coming years, P.R. Kankariya, chairman of Rajasthan Hospital informed, reports TOI
In this regard, the Rajasthan Hospital, secretary, Mahendra Shah also said “This college will be established following the Greenfield model, in line with the Public-Private Partnership standards outlined in the Gujarat government's special 'Health Policy - 2016'. We received the 'Consent of Affiliation' from Gujarat University. Subsequently, a high-level team from the health department of the government of Gujarat conducted a thorough examination to ensure that the arrangements complied with the government’s norms. Based on their findings, the Gujarat government granted the necessary certificate for the establishment of the college. Following this approval, the trust has now completed the application process to seek approval from the National Medical Commission, Delhi.”
The medical college will also provide state-of-the-art facilities, including modern lecture halls, a library, smart teaching rooms, a museum, a dissection hall, a skilled laboratory, etc.
