SMS Principal DR Bhandari appointed as acting Dean of RUHS
Jaipur: Dr. Sudhir Bhandari has recently been appointed as working vice-chancellor of the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) until the appointment of the next regular VC.
Dr. Bhandari has been serving as the principal and controller of SMS Medical College for some time now.
The order relating to the appointment of Dr. Bhandari was issued by Governor Kalraj Mishra last week. Previously Dr. Rajababu Panwar was serving as the VC of RUHS but his tenure ended on January 14. Dr. Panwar was appointed until completion of his 70 years or for five years, whichever is earliest. He completed his 70 years in January. Hence, he was released from the charge according to the rules.
While taking over the charge as the new VC, Dr. Bhandari told Times of India " My priority will be updgration of academics and clinical work, while giving equal focus on research work. Since a lot of new medical colleges are coming up, standardization of colleges associated with RUHS will be among the priorities." Dr Bhandari has been significant in Covid-19 management in the state. During his tenure as a principal, SMS Medical College prepared Covid-19 management and treatment protocols. He also dedicated himself to provide better healthcare facilities at dedicated Covid-19 RUHS Hospital.
Dr Bhandari is an MD, DNB, and MNAMS. He is also a renowned Physician and Diabetologist & Fellow of Royal College Physicians (FRCP), London, Edinburgh. He is a member of the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and so on. His international awards included World Icon Award and Literacy Hero Award. He was awarded the Chikitsa Ratna Award by IMA Rajasthan, Dr. PJ Mehta Young Scientist Award, and he secured many other such recognitions in the medical field.
He has been bestowed with Rotary Foundation Fellowship in Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases at Cardiff (UK) and has been awarded Fellowship of American College Of Endocrinology (FACE) & Fellowship of American College Of Physicians (FACP) Fellowship of Indian College Of Physicians (FICP), Fellowship of Diabetes in India ( FDI), Fellowship of Indian Society of Cardiology (FISC), Fellow of research society for the study of diabetes in India (FRSSDI). Dr. Bhandari has Published 80 articles in prestigious medical journals & contributed a chapter for the Textbooks on Hypertension, Diabetes & Cardio Vascular Disorders.
