21 year old MBBS aspirant allegedly commits suicide after missing seat in round 1 NEET counselling

Chennai: In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old NEET candidate who could not get an MBBS seat even after clearing the National Eligibility-Entrance Test (NEET) this year reportedly committed suicide at Palayamkottai in the southern Tirunelveli district.
As per media reports, the candidate was deeply upset after finding that her name was not included in the recently released list of candidates allotted seats in the first round of counselling.
The candidate is the daughter of an IT professional who completed her schooling in 2023 and later joined a NEET coaching centre to prepare for the medical entrance examination.
She had appeared for NEET-UG last year but could not secure a medical seat. She then prepared for another attempt and cleared the entrance examination this year.
