33 Doctors awarded by TN Medical Council for exceptional service during COVID, Details
Chennai: 33 doctors have recently been awarded by Tamil Nadu Medical Council for their dedication and exceptional services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The occasion was graced by Governor Banwarilal Purohit, who gave the awards on Thursday.
K Senthil, President of the TN Medical Council told Medical Dialogues that Tamil Nadu Medical Council thought of honoring the healthcare professionals who extended their services day and night in order to contain the pandemic. Initially, the program was supposed to be in Raj Bhawan but it could not happen due to the pandemic.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that Tamil Nadu Medical Council had called for the nominations for the "Medical Council Awards 2020" from eligible doctors coming under various categories who served during the COVID-19 pandemic. The nominations were supposed to be sent by the eligible doctors or by their proposers for recognition of their service during Covid-19 pandemic. There were a total of 6 categories with 5 awards each. The last date for the nomination was 15th February 2021.

The list of awardee included well-recognized personalities like Dr.R.Narayana Babu, Director of Medical Education, Dr. T.S.Selvavinayagam, Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine,Chennai, Dr. S. Gurunathan, Director of Medical and Rural Health Services, Dr K Kolandaswamy, Former Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Dr.R.Shanthimalar, Director of Medical Education(OSD) of Chengalpattu Medical College, Dr. R.Jayanthi, Govt. Medical College of Omandurar, Dr.R.Balaji Nathan, Dean, Govt. Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College of Salem, Dr.E.Theranirajan, Dean, Madras Medical College, Dr.A.
