Madras HC grants bail to man accused of forging NEET documents for daughter's MBBS admission
Madras: The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court recently granted bail to the father of a medical aspirant who was arrested for allegedly forging the NEET marksheet and counselling certificate to get admission to a government medical college in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu.
The aspirant wanted to study medicine but couldn't achieve the required cutoff. Therefore, she and her parents fabricated marksheets showing her NEET score as 456 and submitted them to the college administration. However, her actual score was 228.
The matter came to light when her name was not included in the selection list released by the government. Therefore, officials suspected foul play and filed a police complaint. After verification, the allegations were found to be true, following which the officials filed a complaint with the district crime branch, and the three were arrested on October 7th.
However, the investigation determined that the father was innocent and that his wife and daughter were involved in the crime, so he sought bail. Given that the man had not been charged with any specific offense and had no other cases against him, the court granted him bail, reports TNIE.
In this regard, Medical Dialogues earlier reported that the Crime Branch police have arrested a student and her parents for allegedly getting admission to the MBBS programme at Dindigul Government Medical College using forged National Eligibility and Entrance (NEET) Counselling certificates.
The accused had been identified as a 19-year-old student who had scored 228 marks in the NEET exam but failed to secure a medical seat in the first round of counselling. To gain admission, her parents reportedly fabricated documents showing that she had scored 456 marks and was allotted a seat at Dindigul Government Medical College.
