Chennai- Another case of medical admission fraud has surfaced in Chennai, where a fraudster defrauded Rs 71.63 lakh by promising a medical seat. The Entrusted Document Fraud (EDF) wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested the accused for orchestrating the scam.
Identified as S Vadapalli Vijayakumar, 39, hailing from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, the fraudster runs Zion Online Services. He lured the victim by falsely assuring a medical college admission for the victim's daughter.
The fraudster has been identified as S Vadapalli Vijayakumar, 39, who lives in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh and runs Zion Online Services.
According to the Edex Live report, the victim came in contact with the fraudster in 2021, when Vijaykumar promised him to get his daughter admitted to a private medical college. On this, the man was asked to transfer money. On reaching an agreement with him, the victim transferred the money through multiple transactions. However, Vijaykumar failed to get admission as promised. Then he asked for his money back but the fraudster did not return the money. Later, the man complained with the police.
When interrogation began, it was found that this was not the first time Vijaykumar had cheated many people earlier and two cases were already registered against him in Nellore district. In this regard, he was also arrested in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, January 7 and sent to judicial remand on Wednesday, January 8.
Medical Dialogues earlier reported that a man had been duped of Rs 33 lakh by the promise of a PG medical seat for his daughter at Maulana Azad Medical College, (MAMC) New Delhi.
The victim, a resident of Sri Vijaya Puram, filed a complaint before the Pahargaon Police Station, claiming that the accused is from New Delhi and employed at the Nursing Office of Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi.
