TN medical council makes original screening pass certificate mandatory for FMG registration, warns of application rejection
Chennai: Through a recent notice, the Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC) has informed Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) that uploading a scanned copy of the original Screening Pass Certificate is mandatory while applying for a Provisional Eligibility Certificate or Permanent Registration through the TNMC portal.
The council stated that the graduates who fail to upload the scanned copy of the original Screening Pass Certificate while submitting their applications may face rejection of their applications.
"Those Foreign Medical Graduates, while applying for Provisional Eligibility Certificate or Permanent Registration in TNMC Portal are hereby informed that uploading of the scanned copy of Original Screening Pass Certificate is mandatory. Otherwise, the applications are liable to be rejected. For strict compliance by all FMGs," the notice issued on July 20 mentioned.
Medical Dialogues had reported earlier that the council in April invited online applications from FMGs for permanent registration, who fully comply with eligibility criteria prescribed by the National Medical Commission in the relevant Public Notices, including completion of mandated internship as well as adherence to the prescribed norms regarding the mode and duration of study.
TNMC Asks FMGs to Keep DigiLocker Ready for Class 10, 12 Marksheet Verification
In a separate notice, TNMC also issued an advisory regarding the verification of Class 10 and 12 marksheets submitted by Foreign Medical Graduates.
The council said that, as per the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC), it verified the authenticity of Class 10 and 12 marksheets submitted by FMGs during the processing of their applications.
However, TNMC said that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) online marksheet verification server has not been functioning for more than a month.
After contacting CBSE, the council was informed that the genuineness of candidates' Class 10 and 12 marksheets should be verified through DigiLocker, as the platform is compliant with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.
In view of this, TNMC has advised FMG candidates to install the DigiLocker app and keep it operational on their mobile phones. The council said that officials will verify the Class 10 and 12 marksheets directly through the DigiLocker app on the candidates' mobile phones.
