RIMS Adilabad MBBS student found dead

Suicide
Karimnagar: In an unfortunate incident, a second-year MBBS student from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Adilabad allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling in his hostel room.
The incident occurred just days before the commencement of second-year MBBS classes on August 2.
Officials from the institute said that a committee comprising faculty members had been formed to ascertain the circumstances leading to the suicide.
The incident took place today when he was alone in his room. As he failed to attend the afternoon study session, his friends and fellow students noticed his absence and alerted the staff. After being unable to reach him, they went to his room, broke open the door and found him hanging from a ceiling fan. Immediately, they rushed him to RIMS hospital, where doctors declared him dead, as per Telangana Today
After the police reached the post upon receiving the information, they conducted a preliminary investigation but found no suicide note. They sent his body for a postmortem and informed his parents.
A case has been registered in this regard, and Circle inspector Karunakar Rao of Adilabad II town told PTI, "We are conducting a thorough inquiry into the incident." Further details will be known following the post-mortem examination and completion of the investigation.
Medical Dialogues earlier reported that a final year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) student from the 2020 batch at Pacific Dental College and Research Centre in Udaipur, reportedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling in her hostel room over alleged mental harassment and torture by two faculty members. The student from Jammu and Kashmir accused the two faculty members of prolonged mental harassment spanning two years, irregularities in exam schedules, arbitrary student failures, and extortion-like monetary demands in her suicide note.
