Telangana doctor duped of Rs 33 lakh in magical money doubling scheme

Nalgonda: In a rather surprising case, a doctor has been duped of Rs 33 lakh after believing in the scheme of a magic liquid that purportedly doubled the money.
Fraudsters are always on the prowl for unsuspecting individuals to exploit, concocting elaborate deceptions to con them out of their money. However, in a scheme that seems straight out fairytale, two men weaved an astonishing story about a magical liquid that could purportedly double currency notes, reports Deccan Chronicles.
According to Sharat Chandra Pawar, Superintendent of Police, the accused has been identified as a 53-year-old, his 20-year-old son and another 40-year-old man all hailing from Katihar in Bihar. They came in contact with a licensed medical practitioner, about two years ago while working on the construction of his house in Chandanapally, Nalgonda district.
A few months ago, they approached the doctor with an incredible offer. They claimed to possess a unique liquid capable of doubling money. To confirm their absurd claim the doctor wanted a demonstration, so he gave them Rs 6,500, which they returned as Rs 13,000, seemingly validating their claim. Convinced by their extraordinary story, the doctor asked the men to double the Rs 33 lakh, that he got from a property sale, using their magical liquid, reports the Daily.
On June 22, two of the accused visited his home and divided the Rs 33 lakh into 11 bundles before submerging them in the liquid they described as a magical liquid. When the doctor stepped away to attend to a patient in a different clinic, the duo swiftly replaced the real currency bundles with fake ones, which contained only Rs 500 notes on the top and bottom. But in the middle, they kept only blank paper in between the authentic notes.
The fraudsters instructed that the doctor must let the bundles dry for a day before using them. The next day, upon discovering the deception, the doctor realized he had been duped and promptly lodged a complaint with the Nalgonda rural police station.
Following a tip-off, police apprehended two of the accused at Nalgonda railway station, where they were preparing to flee with the stolen cash. The police managed to recover Rs 24 lakh from them. However, the youngest of the accused had already escaped to Bihar with Rs 9 lakh, according to the police.
Authorities continue to investigate the case and have issued a manhunt for the absconding culprit, while the other two suspects remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
