Telangana: Four arrested for allegedly raping B Pharma student
Hyderabad: A 19-year-old B Pharm student was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by four auto-rickshaw drivers. The four accused have already been placed under arrest by Rachakonda police on Thursday.
Based on the complaint of the student, police have registered a case under 365 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police also altered the Sections and added Sections 376 (D), 324, 354 (B) of the Indian Penal Code to the existing section of 365 IPC.
As per a recent media report by The Hindu, one of the drivers was allegedly stalking the student for a long time, and finally, when she sought a ride on his autorickshaw, they allegedly took her to a deserted area and sexually assaulted the victim.
The accused drivers have been identified as residents of Yamnampet, Pocharam municipality, and all aged between 25 to 30 years. The Hindu reports that one of the investigating officers confirmed that they have questioned at least 15 people, who were in touch with the suspects at SOT Bhongir. He explained the main accused was following the victim for the past few days, and on February 10th in the evening, the victim, unaware of his evil intentions took a ride on his auto.
Meanwhile, the driver was joined by three others and they took the student to the bushes near the railway tracks and allegedly assaulted her. After police received a call, the victim was traced to Ghatkesar and was immediately rushed to the nearby medical facility, reports the daily. The mother of the victim has registered a case at Keesara police station under Sections 365 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code.
"She was unable to give her statement immediately due to trauma. On Thursday, she was taken to Gandhi hospital for reexamination and her statement was recorded," the officer said. Police are still investigating the case but the condition of the victim's health is quite stable now.
