Telangana Govt Sanctions Rs 204.85 Crore for Civil Works in Three Medical Colleges
Telangana- The Telangana government has recently sanctioned an amount of Rs 204.85 crore for civil works in three medical colleges in the state including Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad and Kakatiya Medical College, Hanumakonda.
According to a recent report by Deccan Chronicle, Telangana Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha sanctioned the amount to the Director of Medical Education (DME) for carrying out civil works in 3 colleges of the state namely Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad and Kakatiya Medical College, Hanumakonda through Telangana State Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMSIDC).
The sanctioning of Rs 204.85 crore for civil works in three colleges of the state was announced at a press conference. The conference was held by Damodar Raja Narasimha along with Health Secretary Christina Z Chongthu, Director of Medical Education Dr N Vani and JUDA representatives.
FUNDS FOR EACH MEDICAL COLLEGE
1 Osmania Medical College allocated Rs 121.90 crore for the construction of the hostel and repair of infrastructure.
2 Gandhi Medical College gets Rs 79.50 crore for construction of hostel and senior citizen block.
3 Kakatiya Medical College gets Rs 3.45 crore for the construction of internal cement concrete roads.
This decision was taken after discussions with junior doctors of such colleges, who were on strike from June 2024 in support of eight demands including payment of stipend. However, the decision of the state government has cleared the way for them to withdraw their agitation in support of their demands.
After discussions with junior doctors, the government has assured them that an order will be issued in this regard. Following this, the state government issued a government order providing administrative approval of Rs 204.85 crore.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Secretary to the Government Christina Z. Chongthu said the expenditure would be borne under the account head “4210-01-110-25-SH (22) Construction of Medical Colleges and Hospitals -530-531” and the Director of Medical Education, TGMSIDC would take necessary action accordingly.
Meanwhile, the minister urged the doctors to cooperate with the government to strengthen healthcare services in the state. At the same time, JUDA members also expressed their satisfaction over the government's decision and said that they are looking forward to the smooth implementation of the administrative orders.
