New Delhi: A professor of forensic medicine attached to JN Medical College under Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has to face serious consequences for hurting the religious sentiments of a particular community by using slides on 'mythical references of rape'. AMU authorities first handed him a show-cause notice after which he was suspended.

"In view of the prima facie misconduct and seriousness of the matter, Dr. ****** has been suspended from service till the completion of the investigation. Further action will be taken on the basis of reply to show cause notice issued to Dr. Kumar," AMU tweeted. A case has also been registered against the doctor by a BJP leader at the Civil Lines police station on Wednesday 6th April.

AMU's Public relations office recently issued a statement saying, " The Aligarh Muslim University administration and the Faculty of Medicine today strongly condemned the content of a slide on the mythical reference of rape and issued a show-cause notice to ******* ***** for hurting the religious sentiments of the students, staff and citizens." The University has requested the professor to submit his reply at the earliest.

The professor allegedly made objectionable remarks against Hindu deities while teaching about sexual offences in his classroom. He used a PowerPoint presentation to explain the topic where he summarized a brief history of rape; however, he linked rape to Hindu mythology, reports
Opindia
. The photographs of the slide soon went viral on social media and it showed points including Story of Brahma raping his daughter, Indra impersonation of Rishi Gautam and raping his wife, Lord Vishnu raping the wife of King Jalandhar, Different types of marriage as per Hindu traditions, Two main cases that drastically changed rape laws in India – Mathura rape case and Nirbhaya rape case.

Absolutely disgusting and objectionable! 😡
See what and how they have been teaching forensic medicine in AMU! Never had thought that they would demonise and insult majoritarian sentiments just to pursue their J!hadist hate Hindu agenda!! #MedTwitter pic.twitter.com/OvaaOrlUXD

A BJP leader also lodged a formal complaint against the doctor where it was mentioned that the assistant professor made terrible statements about the gods and goddesses. His lecture had also adversely affected the religious sentiments of the Hindus. The police initiated an inquiry after receiving the allegation. A two-member enquiry committee has been set up following the recommendation of Professor Rakesh Bhargava, Dean, Faculty of Medicine to investigate the matter and suggest steps accordingly to ensure such incidents do not repeat themselves.
Meanwhile, the doctor has already submitted an unconditional apology, said the AMU statement. In a letter addressed to the vice-chancellor of the university, the professor said, "I write to say tender my unconditional apologies for making certain derogatory mythical references on rape in my class (3rd Year MBBS 2019 Batch) on 05.04.2022 at 8 am on the topic of sexual offences."
Criticizing the doctor for his actions, the AMU Hindu Community posted on social media stating, "
The unwarranted attempt to hurt the Hindu sentiments by an Assistant Professor of Medical College of AMU while taking second-year MBBS classes in Forensic Studies is absolutely disgusting and insulting for the entire Hindu Community of AMU." Another lawyer also posted demanding action against the doctor and stated, "
Hinduphobic and baseless contents taught at Aligarh Muslîm University. AMU issue show cause notice. The accused
doctor responds by apologizing and justifying. He must be booked and arrested without any delay and relevant sections of IPC imposed."
