Horror at Rama Medical College: Blood-soaked body of 2nd year MBBS student found in basement after his birthday celebration

Kanpur: In a spine-chilling incident, a second-year MBBS student was found dead with severe head injuries on Sunday in the old boys' hostel of Rama medical college in Bithoor.

According to the police, the student's body was found in the basement of the hostel, covered in blood after his birthday party. Multiple injuries were observed on his body, causing the police authorities to suspect murder.

Furthermore, there have been reports indicating that a heavy object was forcefully struck on his head, while his bodily injuries are believed to have been inflicted by a sharp weapon.

The deceased has been identified as second year MBBS student at Rama Medical College. Tragically, this incident took place the day after he celebrated his birthday till 1:45 am. CCTV footage showed no outside unknown individual entering the hostel campus that day which gave police the suspicion of murder.

As per HT reports, the student, faced peer pressure from his classmates to organize a birthday celebration after they came across pictures of him enjoying his special day at a bar with around 12 friends on November 24th.

The police stated that a party took place at the hostel, where alcoholic beverage were sufficiently provided. They further mentioned that numerous students participated in the event.

His blood-soaked body was first discovered by a guard, Singh at around 6.30 am when he went to switch off the lights in the electric panel located in the basement of the hostel.

Following this, he alerted the hostel authorities who informed the police. The police along with the forensic team reached the spot and Commissioner of Police RK Swarnkar and DCP West Vijay Dhull found Saraswat's body lying in a pool of blood.

While the forensic team was gathering evidence from the scene, they found a broken liquor bottle and a cigarette box in the basement.

"We found two deep injury marks on his head and efforts are on to determine whether the incident is of murder or an accident," Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Anand Prakash Tiwari told PTI.

"It has been decided to get the post-mortem examination done by a panel of three doctors," Mr Tiwari said, adding, that he has given instructions to ensure that the entire autopsy process is videographer.

Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation to examine the matter, which involves questioning 50 students including the roommate and females who had close contact with the deceased and interacted with the student over the night.

“Police are questioning the students of the hostel block,” Kanpur JCP (law and order) Anand Prakash Tiwari said.

The incident has come as a shock wave for his classmates and other students at the college who are mourning his death.
