UP CM lays down foundation stone of New Medical College in Gonda district
Gorakhpur: The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone of a Government Medical College in Gonda costing worth around Rs 282 crore on Wednesday as part of his visit for launching 144 development and medical projects worth 1132 crore in the district.
He said, "The government has worked in a planned and phased manner to improve the existing healthcare system and expand the health infrastructure in the state". He said that every district would soon have a medical college to make healthcare services easily accessible to citizens in Uttar Pradesh. While laying the foundation stone of the new medical college, he said, "Today, the foundation stone of a medical college in Gonda is being laid with the resolution to start admissions in this institute by the year 2022-23."

Further, he talked about the work of his government, adding, "Despite facing natural calamities like floods, Gonda has made great progress. This has been possible because of several growth-oriented reforms implemented by the government at the ground level, along with ensuring the safety of every individual.
Further, criticizing the previous government, he said, "none of the previous governments thought of building a medical college here. Has anyone thought why? The reason is that their development was just confined to their own benefit. Had they worked for the welfare of the people, the place would have witnessed development long back."
As per a media report in Times of India, he said, "Our government has paved the path of development in the state as before 2017, either the schemes were not implemented or their benefits rarely reached the people" . "Our government not only implemented new schemes but also focused on implementing them so that their benefits could reach the beneficiaries," he said.
He added that curfews were imposed before 2017 during the festive period, with the common man not allowed to celebrate the festival in peace. Adding that the previous government did not respect the religious sentiments of people, he said that Uttar Pradesh however have been transformed in the last four and a half years. He asserted that people now receive the gifts of welfare schemes right before the festivals, reported UNI.
Praising the government, he added, "Our government fulfilled the aim of benefiting every eligible person and worked to push the unserved places on the path of development without discriminating on any basis."
He mentioned that the state government is working to achieve the goals set by it, adding, "We fulfilled our promise of building the grand Ram temple and now others are claiming to be honest devotees of Lord Ram."
Further talking about their work for the farmers, he said, "Those who pretend to be the 'wellwishers' of the farmers should know that the government has made a record payment of Rs 1.44 lakh crore to over 45 lakh cane farmers in the state."
Accusing the congress government of doing nothing despite being in power for many years, he said that they were only involved in corruption and no good work was done for the welfare of the people in the state.
He also talked about the improved road infrastructure in the state, adding , "Earlier, it used to take about 3 to 3.5 hours to travel from Gonda to Devipatan, now it takes even less than one hour." He further said that poor people got free ration, power supply, education and healthcare facilities after 2017
During the event, he handed over the symbolic keys of the houses to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural and Urban), and gave benefits to the eligible beneficiaries under welfare schemes like Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana, Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Rashtriya Grameen Aajeevika Mission and Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana. Other ministers were also present at the event including Medical education minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, social welfare minister Ramapati Shastri, minister for MSME Sidharth Nath Singh and Gonda MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh.
