UP: Doctor booked after nurse moves complaint alleging blackmail, rape

Bareilly: A 45-year-old doctor attached to a Community Health Centre (CHC) in Shahbad has been booked after an Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM) moved a complaint against him alleging that the doctor had filmed her video while she was bathing and later blackmailed her to establish physical relations with him.

The complainant has been identified as a 40-year-old ANM from a minority community who is serving at a CHC in Shahbad area of Rampur district, while the doctor used to work in the same CHC.

As per a recent media report in Times of India, the nurse also alleged that the doctor forced himself on her. Moreover, he allegedly showed the private video to her husband after which her husband divorced her. Following the complaint, police started investigating the case and lodged a case against the doctor under relevant sections of IPC.

Shedding light on the case, Milak circle officer Omkar Nath Sharma told Times of India, "It appears that the woman had an extramarital affair with the doctor. Now, she is accusing him of blackmail and rape. The doctor, around 45 years of age, is also married. We have registered an FIR against the accused under IPC sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation)."

The doctor's wife is also a medical professional and the couple used to work at Shahbad CHC but around ten days ago the couple had taken a transfer. They have joined the Moradabad district hospital recently.

" We are probing the case from all angles," added the CO.
