UP: KGMU launches new telephone line for OPD appointment

Lucknow: A new telephone line has been recently launched at the King George's Medical University (KGMU) in order to enable patients to access OPD appointments more easily.

As per a media report in the Times of India, this new addition has come days after the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Brajesh Pathak paid a surprise visit to the hospital and pulled up the officials as their telephone lines for taking doctor's appointments were not working.

Pathak made that surprise inspection following his failed attempt at connecting to the number listed by the medical university for online appointments despite trying repeatedly for nearly an hour.

Now, a new phone number has been launched which the patients can now contact the number, 0522-3539333 for booking OPD appointments. This number is functional along with the previously run phone number for the same purpose, which is, 0522-225880.

The KGMU spokesperson Dr. Sudhir Singh told TOI, "If the phone numbers are not connecting, the patient can also leave a text message on the official number 8887019134. These services are also functional at KGMU's call centre from 9 am to 3 pm. The appointment can also be taken through Aadhaar number on the web address www.ors.gov. Offline registration in OPD will also be functional now."

During his visit to KGMU, Pathak had reviewed the online appointment system and had also given instructions to the KGMU officials to ensure easy access to all facilities to people. He had also taken personal feedback from patients, as per a media report in the Times of India.

The deputy CM was also reportedly angry over the patient's rush and the faulty appointment system, due to which he suggested changes in the system and had asked them to be implemented with immediate effect.
