Uttarakhand aims to set up Medical Colleges in Every District

Uttarakhand- Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently stated that the state government is aiming to establish at least one medical college in every district and expand Jan Aushadhi Centres in Uttarakhand.
He said this while speaking at the fifth convocation of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh. On this occasion, he highlighted the developments in India's healthcare sector in the last decade. He also said that we are building new medical colleges to set up a medical college in every district and expand the network of Jan Aushadhi Kendras in the state. He further said that India's healthcare sector has made remarkable progress in the last decade with initiatives like Ayushman Bharat and the establishment of new AIIMS and medical colleges.
“More than 14 lakh people have been treated in the state under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Additionally, more than 5000 gram sabhas of Uttarakhand have become TB-free”, said CM.
Meanwhile, the fifth convocation of AIIMS Rishikesh was presided over by Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda. Also present were Uttarakhand Health and Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, Lok Sabha members Ajay Bhatt, Ajay Tamta and Trivendra Singh Rawat and Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan.
Union minister, while addressing the attendees, said, convocation is a special occasion which recognises the achievements made by the students. He said that AIIMS Rishikesh has created a unique identity among healthcare institutions due to its excellent services and reiterated the central government's commitment to providing world-class healthcare services to citizens.
"The government is focusing on providing healthcare that is not only curative but also preventive, palliative and rehabilitative," he said.
