JNM medical college Final year MBBS student found dead in hostel

West Bengal: In a unfortunate incident, the mutilated body of a final year MBBS student was found in a boys' hostel room inside the JNM Medical College Hospital campus in Kalyani in West Bengal's Nadia district.
The deceased has been identified as a 24-year-old student of the last semester of his undergraduate MBBS course.
According to a TNIE media news report, sources said that he had not been seen in the college or canteen since Monday. Boarders then went to his room and noticed a foul smell coming from his room. They looked from the ventilator in his room and found him dead on his bed.
The police were then informed, who broke open the door of his room, which was locked from inside, and recovered the body. The body has been sent to the police morgue for a post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case of unnatural death.
During the investigation, the police questioned hospital officials. They informed that he lived alone in the room and was scheduled to appear for his final semester exams starting March 5th. Due to this incident, there was tension between the students and doctors inside the hospital campus.
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old resident of Patna, who was pursuing an MBBS degree at the institute.
The student's body was found on Saturday night. After the matter came into the light, the Police were informed, and the body was kept in the hospital morgue. In the initial investigations, it is suspected that the death was a suicide. However, the exact cause will only be determined after a postmortem examination.
