Thane: 40 year old Pediatrician Brutally assaulted outside clinic
The doctor sustained multiple injuries including fractures on hand
THANE: A 40-year-old paediatrician was brutally beaten up recently by 2 unknown men outside his own clinic on Monday evening. Dr Prashant Darandale, who runs a private clinic in Manpada, was approaching his vehicle after closing his clinic for the day when the accused attacked him.
Dr Prashant was brutally assaulted by the attackers using rods cricket bat and wooden stick, following which he collapsed. He was rescued when passersby rushed to his aid which forced the attackers to flee. The doctor was later rushed to Jupiter hospital where he was taken in the ICU. He suffered multiple injuries including fracture on hand.
"He has suffered injuries to his back, legs, and right arm. He had to get stitches on his elbow and legs; he has also fractured his arm. He is stable and in the ICU," Dr Ashish Phadnis, a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Jupiter Hospital told TOI.
According to Dr Prashant, the attackers kept saying 'you hit children, you slap children' while assaulting him.
The local police have noted the physical descriptions of the accused and are investigating the matter. The unidentified accused, presumed to be between 20-22 years of age, have been booked for voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons under relevant sections the IPC.
According to Kasarvadavli police, the two men were relatives of a patient, who the doctor, Prashant Darandale, was treating. The police are going through the CCTV footage recorded at the time of the incident and talking with the locals.
