Unnao Shocker: Doctor who treated rape victim's father found dead under mysterious circumstances
Unnao: In yet another turn of events in the Unnao rape case, the doctor, who treated Unnao rape victim's father, died under suspicious circumstances here on Monday.
The doctor, Dr Prashant Upadhyaya had been posted in the emergency ward of the district hospital when the rape victim's father had been brought after he was thrashed in police custody. The doctor had provided him with first aid and soon discharged the rape victim's father. The man soon died thereafter.
The doctor had been placed under suspension during a CBI inquiry into the matter. He was later re-instated and was presently posted in Fatehpur.
While the rape case matter was scheduled for hearing on Tuesday, the doctor, aged 45 years was rushed to the hospital on Monday after complaining of uneasiness
"He complained of breathing difficulty in the morning. We suggested to him that he should go to the hospital. He said that he would go in some time after taking some rest. But he died in the meantime," a relative of the doctor told reporters.
Police said that Upadhyay was a Dr diabetic and his body was sent for post-mortem.
A Delhi court on December 20 last year sentenced expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar to life imprisonment in the Unnao rape case and directed him to pay the compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the victim.
