Visakhapatnam: The proposed allocation of Andhra Pradesh super-specialty doctors to Telangana has met with strong opposition from the Andhra Pradesh Government Doctors' Association (APGDA). The doctors are reported to have held a protest demonstration against the same further alleging that the transfers are happening under the cover of absence of sanctioned posts in Andhra Pradesh.
To make their protest official, the APGDA submitted a representation to Health Minister, Kamineni Srinivas on Sunday. Copies of the same were also given to the Governor , the Chief Minister and the Kamalnathan Committee.
Dr D Jayadheer Babu, Secretary of APGDA responding to the prevailing situation said , "Three super-specialist doctors from AP, working in Andhra Medical College (AMC)-King George Hospital (KGH) have been tentatively allocated to Telangana, stating non-availability of posts in AP. The doctors are natives of AP and have studied here too. They should be allotted back to AP again. We have also come to know that around 30 senior doctors from AP are in the transfer list to Telangana, especially to Warangal and Karimnagar even though they haven't opted for transfer to that state."
