First: Govt to conduct Pan India AYUSH survey, check details
New Delhi: To get a better understanding of how AYUSH(Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homoeopathy) affects the Indian population, the government announced on Tuesday that they are all set to conduct an AYUSH survey. This is the first time that the Indian government is going to conduct such a survey.
The National Statistical Office and the State Directorates of Economics and Statistics will conduct the survey together for one year. Besides the villages in Andaman and Nicobar Islands that have poor accessibility, the survey will cover the whole Indian Union.
The survey will be executed in such a manner that the data would be collected from about 3 lakh households in 12,000 villages/urban blocks, with nearly the same number in the state sample.
In a statement, the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation told ET that "the survey on AYUSH will be a first-ever all-India survey on AYUSH and will gather information for the development of various key parameters on AYUSH. An attempt was made in the survey of Household Consumer Expenditure, NSS 68th round, 2011-12 to get some estimates on awareness and uses of the AYUSH system of medicine by the household"
