14 Ayurvedic hospital projects in UP's Ballia await completion amid delays

Ballia: More than two years after construction was approved under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM), 14 Ayurvedic hospital buildings in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district are yet to be handed over, delaying the expansion of AYUSH healthcare infrastructure in the region.
Health authorities have now stepped up monitoring and directed the executing agency to accelerate the pending construction work.
According to the report, the construction of the hospital buildings was approved during the financial year 2024-25 in view of the growing public preference for Ayurvedic treatment, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic. Around Rs 30 lakh was sanctioned for each project, while the responsibility for construction was assigned to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).

Concerned over the slow pace of work, Regional Ayurvedic and Unani Officer Dr Anil Kumar recently reviewed the progress and instructed officials of the executing agency to speed up construction. He also met Chief Development Officer Alok Kumar and apprised him of the current status of the projects, reports Live Hindustan.
The initiative aims to improve access to Ayurvedic healthcare by enabling people to receive treatment at hospitals located closer to their homes. However, despite the projects being launched nearly two years ago, none of the 14 hospital buildings has been formally handed over.
District AYUSH Mission Manager Manoj Shahi stated that construction of the hospital building at Malap Harsenpur has been completed and is awaiting handover. He added that work at the remaining sites is progressing and regular inspections are being carried out to ensure timely completion. Directions have also been issued to the construction agency to remove delays and expedite the work.
Officials expressed hope that most of the pending Ayurvedic hospital buildings will be ready for handover by the end of next month, paving the way for improved availability of AYUSH services across Ballia district.
