25 Year Old BAMS Intern Dies in Late Night Road Accident in Haridwar

Haridwar: In a tragic incident, a 25-year-old Ayurveda medical intern lost his life in a road accident on the Bahadrabad–Delhi highway in Haridwar.

According to police, the victim, a resident of Bettiah in Bihar, was riding a scooty to report for duty at the Bahadrabad Community Health Centre (CHC) on Wednesday night, where he was undergoing a six-month internship. A female intern was accompanying him at the time.

As they reached the highway, a speeding unidentified vehicle rammed into their two-wheeler, severely damaging its front portion. The impact left the doctor critically injured, leading to his death on the spot. The female intern fell from the scooter but escaped with minor injuries and was left shaken.

The driver fled the scene immediately after the incident, and police have launched a search to trace him.

It is reported that the vehicle involved in the accident was traveling at high speed at the time of the collision. Dr. Aarti Singh, the In-charge of the Bahadrabad CHC, stated that the doctor was pursuing his BAMS degree at Darhud University in Roorkee. He had been posted at the Bahadrabad CHC as part of a six-month training program, reports ETV Bharat.

His sudden death has come as a shock. She added that the college administration has been informed, and strict action has been requested against the driver.

Speaking to TOI, Bahadrabad SHO Amarjeet Singh said, “The doctor, a resident of Bettiah in Bihar, was going to the health centre for duty when he met with an accident. The body has been handed over to his family after a postmortem, and an FIR is being registered.”

The doctor had earlier visited his ancestral village, Mandialan, for agricultural work. At around 8:30 pm, while returning home to Hoshiarpur, the accident occurred, leaving him critically injured.
