AIIA introduces 'AyurVarta' to spotlight Ayurveda, Research and Global Reach
The digital series will feature expert discussions on Ayurveda, scientific research, clinical practice, healthcare challenges and its growing global outreach.
New Delhi: The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has launched ‘AyurVarta’, a digital dialogue series aimed at bringing discussions on Ayurveda, scientific research, clinical practice and its growing global relevance to a wider audience ahead of Ayurveda Day.
The initiative will feature conversations with experts on various aspects of Ayurveda and contemporary healthcare, covering areas such as Ayurveda education, research, clinical practice, healthcare challenges and the expanding international outreach of the traditional system.
The inaugural episode featured Professor (Vaidya) PK Prajapati, Director of AIIA, and Professor Dr Mahesh Vyas, Dean, Ph.D., AIIA. The discussion focused on the theme, “Why is Ayurveda Day celebrated on 23 September?"

During the episode, the speakers discussed the history of Ayurveda Day and its earlier observance on Dhanvantari Jayanti, or Dhanteras. They also examined the decision of the Government of India to establish a fixed date for the annual observance, reports The Pioneer.
Professor Dr Mahesh Vyas explained the significance associated with September 23, noting that the date falls around the Autumnal Equinox, when the duration of day and night is approximately equal. The discussion linked this idea of balance and equilibrium with Ayurveda’s broader understanding of health and well-being.
On the occasion, Professor (Vaidya) PK Prajapati, Director, AIIA, said, “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, continuous efforts are being made to establish Ayurveda not only as India’s ancient system of healthcare, but also as a significant knowledge and healthcare system with growing relevance in the global health landscape. This year, Ayurveda Day will be observed with great enthusiasm and on a wider scale not only across the country but also in several countries around the world. This growing global participation reflects the increasing recognition and acceptance of Ayurveda internationally.''
According to AIIA, ‘AyurVarta’ is planned as an ongoing digital initiative rather than a one-time programme. Future episodes will continue to address different subjects related to Ayurveda and will be made available through the institute’s official digital and social media platforms.
The episodes will be accessible through AIIA’s YouTube, Facebook, X and Instagram platforms, allowing students, physicians, researchers, academicians and the general public to access discussions on Ayurveda in a simple and engaging format.
