New Delhi: Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), New Delhi, marked the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 by organising a special programme centred on the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, highlighting the combined relevance of Yoga and Ayurveda in promoting preventive healthcare, healthier lifestyles, balanced living and overall well-being. 

The event, held at the Vidyapeeth campus, witnessed the presence of Dr Vandana Siroha, Director, Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth; Vd Tara Chand Sharma, CRAV Guru; and Vd Namadhar Sharma, CRAV Guru. Officials and staff members of the Vidyapeeth also participated in the programme.

As part of the celebration, participants took part in a guided yoga session that included asanas, pranayama and meditation practices. The session focused on the role of regular yogic practices in improving physical fitness, supporting mental balance, enhancing inner calm and contributing to better overall health. It also served as a practical demonstration of how Yoga can be incorporated into daily routines as a preventive and supportive health practice.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries underlined the importance of adopting Yoga as a regular lifestyle practice, particularly in the context of healthy ageing. They also noted that the principles of Ayurveda, when combined with Yoga, can contribute to preventive healthcare, disciplined living and improved quality of life across age groups. 

The event further brought attention to the shared foundation of Yoga and Ayurveda in promoting harmony between the body, mind and spirit.

The event concluded with participants taking a pledge to incorporate Yoga into daily life and to promote awareness about its benefits among families, workplaces and communities. The pledge also reinforced the message that healthy ageing requires consistent lifestyle practices and community-level awareness.
