International Yoga Day: Ayurveda doctors, yoga experts promote awareness in Sitamarhi

Bhadohi: A Yoga Week programme was organised at Shri Sita Samahit Sthal ahead of International Yoga Day, bringing together Ayurveda practitioners, yoga trainers, local residents, youth, elderly citizens and community representatives for a public awareness initiative about yoga, Ayurveda and healthy living.
The programme was organised with the objective of spreading awareness about the importance of yoga in daily life and encouraging people to adopt healthier habits. Participants were informed about how regular yoga practice can help improve physical fitness, mental balance, discipline and overall well-being. The programme included demonstrations of basic yogasanas, pranayama and meditation techniques, with an emphasis on simple practices that people can easily include in their everyday routine, reports Dainik Bhaskar.
Organisers said that the programme was not merely a symbolic celebration, but an effort to motivate the community to understand the long-term value of yoga and traditional systems of health. They highlighted that in today’s fast-paced lifestyle, stress, lack of physical activity and unhealthy routines have become common concerns, and yoga can play an important role in promoting balance, positivity and self-discipline.

The main highlight of the programme was the presence of Pandit Sanjay Yogi Shastri Maharaj, who led various yoga sessions and addressed the participants on the significance of yoga in Indian culture. Speaking on the occasion, he said that yoga is an invaluable gift of India to the world and continues to remain highly relevant for maintaining physical and mental well-being in modern times. He encouraged people to practise yoga regularly and said that even a few minutes of daily yoga, pranayama and meditation can bring positive lifestyle changes, thought process and overall health.
Ayurveda practitioners, including Dr Shyam Sundar Pandey, Dr Ankur Singh, Dr Ravindra Kumar Pandey, Dr Rakesh Chandra Maurya and Dr Nandlal, attended the programme and interacted with the participants. They spoke about the close connection between yoga, Ayurveda and preventive health. The doctors encouraged people to focus on balanced food habits, daily physical activity, proper sleep and mental calmness as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Yoga trainers Mr Kapil and Ms Ranjeeta were also present and supported the practical sessions. They demonstrated basic yoga postures and breathing exercises in a simple and accessible manner so that people of all age groups could participate comfortably. Special attention was given to encouraging beginners and elderly participants to practise yoga safely according to their physical capacity.
Village head Bankat, Mr Kailash Tiwari and other respected local citizens also participated in the programme. They appreciated the initiative and said that such community-based programmes help create awareness at the grassroots level. They also appealed to residents to continue practising yoga beyond International Yoga Day and motivate others in their families and neighbourhoods to do the same.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from youths, women and elderly residents, who actively took part in the yoga sessions and discussions. Many participants shared that the programme helped them better understand the benefits of yoga and inspired them to make it a regular part of their lives. Several attendees also resolved to follow healthier habits and encourage their family members to adopt yoga and meditation.
Organisers said that Yoga Week, held on the occasion of International Yoga Day, aimed to spread the message that regular yoga practice can support overall well-being and help people lead a more disciplined and balanced life. The programme concluded with a collective yoga session and an appeal to the community to continue promoting yoga, Ayurveda and healthy living across nearby areas through sustained participation and awareness activities.
